I've been drawn towards, and curious about working with clay for many years. I finally had an opportunity to begin exploring the medium in 2024, and have been working with it ever since. My ceramics span from wheel thrown, to hand built; functional to decorative; meticulously pre-designed to intuitively free-styled. Every medium is a teacher, with its own curriculum for the artist. My experience & interpretation, is that these lessons often complement, and/or mirror the larger themes present in our personal lives, and that through our artistic practice we can further both our awareness, and our awakening.
Clay is a great teacher. It is sensitive, often imperfect, and its form, from beginning until end, is prone to sudden metamorphosis and impermanence. To work with it requires practices in patience, presence, slowness, non-attachment, surrender, & trust....much like the art of living itself.
