Digital Work
The experiences of chronic illness & disability have been ongoing points of translation & exploration in & through my artwork for many years. However, as conditions have progressed & my degree of disability has dynamically deepened, I have been challenged to find new avenues for creativity. In 2020 I began working with Procreate & similar apps, from bed following major spinal/neurosurgery. I have continued to turn towards this alternative avenue of creativity as an accessible means of making art when my body is too ill to be upright. Although I will always prefer the good ole' messiness that is raw materials, I appreciate the accessibility of digital mediums, as well as the ways one can integrate layers of media together to create uniquely complex "mixed media" digital pieces.
