Chain Maille
As an artist I find a lot of joy & excitement in an endless exploration of new mediums. My work is ever-expansive, and as such, always evolving in scope, style, and structure (or lack thereof). My artistic practice, no matter the medium, centers strongly around creation as a means of meditation, and the process of art as portal into/out of/through _________.
Primarily worn as aesthetic adornment in the form of jewelry today, chain maille first took shape in 4th Century BCE, predating plate armor as a protective mechanism for warriors entering battle. All maille begins with individual jump rings, which may vary in size and metal-type. The individual rings are then intricately woven together in repeating patterns belonging to 1 of the 3 families of weaves; Japanese, European, or Persian. The finished results are unique, one of a kind pieces of jewelry made to invoke and inspire the inner Warrior in us all.
